Technomelt PUR 3365, because it is a PUR, polymerizes when it is applied, forming a much stronger bond than a traditional hot melt. It is very flexible and can be used in a wider range of temperature than hot melt. The bond occurs when the chemicals in the Technomelt PUR 3365 pull moisture from the air. Technomelt PUR 3365 is incredibly strong and flexible and works awesome as bookbinding adhesives.
Similar to hot melts, Technomelt PUR 3365 tackifies immediately, although it requires a 24-hour curing time. The film provides a good flexibility at high and low temperatures. The adhesive cures to its final bond strength within approximately 7 days, and Approximately 80% cure is typically achieved in 1-2 days depending on the atmospheric humidity, the moisture content of the paper, the thickness of the adhesive film and permeability of the material to be bonded. Technomelt PUR 3365 has good adhesion to PVC and Acetate-films. Bonding of PP and PE films which is only possible after a recent Corona pretreatment that must produce a surface energy of >40 dyne/cm.
Technomelt PUR 3365 is off-white in color and is 100% solids. It is used primarily in perfect binding operations. The viscosity of Technomelt PUR 3365 is approximately 5,600 cps @ 225°F 3,225 cps @ 250°F 2,070 cps @ 275F.
Technomelt PUR 3365 can be applied by slot coater or Teflon coated roll coater adapted for reactive hot melts at a material temperature of 250- 275°F. Drum and pail unloaders may be set to melt temperatures of between 230°F and 240°F. The hose settings should be the same as the platen setting (never hotter to avoid burning the adhesive in the hose.) Typical applicator temperature is 245°F to 255°F. Temperatures up to 275°F may be used if desired and will include an appropriate increase in platen and hose settings.

STORAGE, HANDLING, AND PRECAUTIONS
Rotate stock using oldest material first. Keep covered to prevent contamination. Do not mix with other adhesives. For best results, use within 1 year from date of shipment. Material is applied hot. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for ventilation and handling requirements.
