Technomelt GA 1214 is a very long open time adhesive developed for side gluing, hot melt lining, tight backing, tipping hinge glues. Side gluing is part of bookbinding that is often overlooked. Side gluing is the application of a bead of hot melt adhesive to bind the cover insides to the first and last pages, or end sheets of a book. While it is a much smaller volume application than backbone gluing, it is important for two main reasons: it forms a hinge on the cover that takes pressure off the spine when the book is flexed or opened, and it makes a finished publication more aesthetically pleasing.
Technomelt GA 1214 is an ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) adhesive that is used for side gluing in bookbinding operations. It has a very slow set-time and zero residual tack. Technomelt GA 1214 offers robust adhesion, great machinability, and easy cleanup. It minimizes angel hair and stringing that can lead to machine downtime and product defects.
The running temperate for Technomelt GA 1214 is between: 300 - 360°F (149 - 182°C). Premelt temperature ranges from: 275 - 325°F (135 - 163°C).
Technomelt GA 1214 viscosity range is approximately:
1850 cps @ 350°F
2900 cps @ 325°F
4500 cps @ 300°F
7500 cps @ 275°F
13400 cps @ 250°F.
